A couple months back, I talked about these crazy robot shoes I was playing with in an Instagram story, and after a few weeks of wearing them, I wrote about the benefits over on MapMyRun.com. In short, the UA SpeedForm® Gemini 3 Record-Equipped sync to an app on your phone, and can track your running distance, cadence, and—in my opinion, the coolest bit—perform a ‘jump test’ to rate how recovered you are. I was really impressed that the shoes were actually comfortable (a little heavier but not by much) and the sync worked super well. And the jump test really matched up with my HRV monitoring!
But this article focuses on the idea of running freely, without having to set up any trackers or anything. The shoes take care of it for you! They aren’t minimal shoes, obviously, so they haven’t become my go-tos, but they are comfortable enough that I love them for when my feet need a little more cushion, or I’m doing something a little longer on the road and need the heftier sole.
